Åre Extreme LAKE has four different categories with Solo, Duo, Relay and Team. LAKE is our most popular category where anyone can participate regardless of previous experience of multisport.
LAKE class is created for those who want to experience multisport, nature and good times at their own level. Åre Extreme is proud to introduce our four diferent categories.
No educational requirements are needed to participate in any of the lake classes. No kayak portage for any lake classes.
Åre Extreme Lake Solo addresses those who want to complete the entire competition themselves, but prefer a shorter paddle distance on Åresjön – flat water in front of the rapids.
The paddling on the lake is 15 km and takes about 100-120 minutes for an entry-level paddler.
Åre Extreme Lake DUO addresses those who want to complete the entire competition together in pairs.
NEW for 2022 is that the participants in LAKE Duo can choose to paddle K2 (double kayak) or K1’s (single kayak).
Åre Extreme Lake RELAY addresses those who want to complete the competition in three-person teams, where each team member takes their own distance.
The first team member paddles the entire kayak distance. Second team member runs across Åreskutan to Huså where the last team member takes over and mountain bike to the finish line on Åre town square.
Åre Extreme TEAM addresses those who want to complete the competition in four-person teams, perfect for families, groups of friends or companies where all team members go through the whole course together. Only double kayaks (K2’s) are allowed.
Åre Extreme also allows participants in the TEAM competition to use their own optional K2 kayaks.
Upon registration, you can rent stable K1’s and K2’s directly from the organization to one of the LAKE classes that are delivered to Åre beach and the start, the morning of 1 July.

-In case of accident/illness, YOU as a competitor are obliged to assist the injured/sick person(s) in the best possible way.
-If a competitor quit the race, this must be reported to the nearest STAFF member.
-Support is not allowed along the course. Only at the official transition areas at Åre Strand and Huså. Not along the course, if this is discovered, that will lead to direct disqualification.
-All participants must be aware of the risks of competing in this type of event and environment and be well prepared.
-The event has a safety organisation to minimise the time needed to evacuate a seriously injured participant. However, weather and terrain conditions can affect the time, so the mandatory equipment is important to carry.
-Show respect for other cyclists within the Åre Bike Park. Please use the bike bell if you pass someone at a fast pace.
-All participants, by registering for one of Åre Extreme events, agree on a common distance from doping in sports. In the event that a participant or someone in the participant’s vicinity uses or trades with doping that are not permitted according to the Swedish Sports Confederation’s regulations in force at any given time, ÅE will report this to the federation’s participant’s own federation and suspend the person in question for competition in Multisport.
